A 3-touch LinkedIn sequence that earns replies
Most LinkedIn sequences fail for the same reason. They are written for the sender, not the reader.
A 3-touch sequence forces discipline. Each message has one job, and then you stop.
Touch 1: the reason you are writing
Say who you are and why this person, specifically. One sentence on relevance, one question. No pitch deck in the first message.
Touch 2: one useful thing
Follow up with something the reader can use. A short observation about their market, a relevant example, a question that shows you read their profile. Not "just bumping this".
Touch 3: the clean exit
Make it easy to say no. A short last message that names the offer once and closes the loop. People reply to polite endings more than you would expect.
What to measure
- Reply rate per touch, not just per sequence.
- Positive replies versus polite declines.
- Which segment of your ICP replies and which stays silent.
Change one variable at a time, or you will not know what worked.
